About Rachael
Who is Rachael Yamagata? Short story: Singer, songwriter and purveyor of smoky-voiced, honest, heartfelt, lovelorn alt/pop/rock piano songs. She grew up in DC and NY, started out as the vocalist in the funk band Bumpus, and eventually struck out on her own in ‘01. She has since released the six track EP (2003), and full-length albums Happenstance (2004), Elephants…Teeth Sinking Into Heart (2008), and Chesapeake (2011). Over the years Rachael has collaborated with the likes of Rhett Miller, Ray LaMontange, Mandy Moore, Jason Mraz, and Ryan Adams. Her songs have also appeared in numerous films and TV shows, including One Tree Hill, Grey’s Anatomy, The L Word, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and The Last Kiss.
